Stocks Wheels & Tires: 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt:
I took off my 18" wheels and put new tires on my stock Chevrolet Cobalt steel wheels.  I also put the stock springs back on.  So the Eibach Pro-Kit springs came off starting with the rear first.  See my Blog Post about Springs.  The ride height didn't change between the 18" wheels and 15" wheels because the 18" wheels were riding along with Eibach springs.

The new tires I chose are Goodyear Eagle RSA 195/60-15.  The 15 at the end means they are 15" inch tires on 15" wheels.  Some Cobalts came with 16" wheels and the SS models had 17" wheels.

My cobalt has a 4-lug bolt pattern (not 5 lug) and the lug size is 4x100.  A pretty universal 4 lug size.  When it comes to aftermarket wheels the wheel backspacing, the wheel hub bore (rotor/brake housing) and offset all play a factor in what fits and what doesn't.  See my Cobalt Wheel Post for more info.  You can get close to a good fit and then put on some lug centric, or hub centric rings to make a larger inside wheel bore fit your car.

To remove the wheel center nut requires 30mm socket.  You would do this if you were changing the wheel bearing.
The front has disc brakes and the rear has drum brakes.
