2005 Chevy Cobalt Wiper Blade Sizes and Change

2005 Chevy Cobalt Wiper Blade Sizes

So you decided to change wiper blades.
There are two options rubber or silicone which costs much more.  Silicone glides smoother I think and they last longer than rubber in heat and UV light extreme temperatures but have draw backs like noise if not clean windshield auto glass, and other reasons to make a choice between them.

The 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt uses a 22" driver side wiper and a 17" passenger side blade.

I went with Rani-X (Rubber) this time around 3/15/2022

How to change wiper blades.
You need to lift the wiper and then hit it hard on the back side so that the blade breaks free from the metal rod and slide it off.  There is a special way to tilt it so that it so that you are hitting in the right place to dislodge it, pop it back you can tell from the bend in the metal rod which travels a long straight path then c curves back around like a finger rolled up in a fist.  You have to knock the blade forward of the c gap and then it is a little hesitant to want to come free but wiggle it and pull it then installation is the reverse.  Be sure the blade is properly seated before seating it as I managed to get the metal rod to go through the blade at first somehow -coming at it from the wrong angle- the metal rod is inside and blade is on the backside of the metal rod so the blade is riding the metal rod like jelly on toast the metal rod is the jelly coming over the back of the blade and being on top, seems idiotic to bring it up but i managed to slide the metal rod into the blade up through the blade.  You'll notice it when the blade doesn't sit right if you mess it up.

ANYWAY.  see the white package image rear side description below it is the J HOOK type design the Chevy Cobalt has which is the first example in the image.

So in the image you will be hitting the left side of the example image.

Sidenote:  I find the Cobalt's wiper blade speed to be a little slow at the fastest speed.  You will notice that in a heavy rain it is harder to see with all the rain and a slow wiper blade.
